A really insane dream...

I have broadened my appeal! People I don't know read my blog too! Wow :D I'm becoming the next Seok Mei!

Maybe soon, people will start approaching me in Mid Valley going "Ruwan? I read your blog!", or as soon as I walk into Orientation at Melb U, hundreds of heads will swivel in my direction and they'll all start whispering "Is that Mr. Pigwoo?".

Yeah, right.

If you don't understand what I'm talking about, read the comments on my generation thingy post. "We're old" I think.

Unless it was just Brendan Chan...then I would just be disappointed.

I had this really insane dream last night. I actually have a lot of weird dreams, as my friends know, but I just woke up 15 minutes ago, so I can still remember this one :P

It actually started 2 nights ago, when I dreamt that my family was on holiday. Towards the end of the dream we bumped into my newly married cousin (who lives in Perth) and she asked if I could be groomsmen for her husband's brother or something. So my mom said OK,

Last night, the wedding took place. We rushed over to the wedding in either a 1966 Jaguar E-type, a 1966 Lamborghini Miura or a 2006 Aston Martin Vanquish. I was decked out in those old style suits, the ones with a black vest over your white shirt.

I went up and somehow the place was filled with people from Garden International School. I came to this conclusion cause they were all either locals who went to international school, or foreigners. And also in the packed lift, I was standing next to Brian Choo. Go figure.

We were ushered in into this theatre, and we were sitting talking like it was LAN, when I noticed a sign hanging from the stage saying "No Vincent Allowed". Considering only one Vincent I knew fitted into the dream, up popped Vincent behind me, telling me that he had to leave.

Now, for Rezza's party, Yan Mei had asked me if she can bring Vincent, and I told her Vincent was already invited. So now in my dream, I felt responsible since I had supposedly invited Vincent to this wedding. So, I asked him why he was being kicked out, and he told me to ask Lixia.

I went in search of Lixia, in this hotel that looked exactly like Mid Valley, except it had wooden doors where the shops were. I found her hanging her school bag on a Christmas tree and her books and pencil case on another (she had come to the wedding from Uni). I asked her, and so she sat down at a ginger bread table and started doing her homework, puncturing holes into the paper (and table) with her pen while telling her tale.

Apparently she had been doing Bible homework, when Vincent came over and conteng-ed her Bible a bit, and so she went and told Mr Lee (Cempakan Maths teacher Form 5).

Then she and I got into an argument on how ridiculous that was and so I left, only to find that the wedding procession had started. There were supposed to be 15 bridesmaids and groomsmen, all teens, the couple was a teen. However, there were only 14 groomsmen since I was not there, and so I just stood and watched a "march" I was supposed to be in disappear.

I decided "To Hell with it!" and joined the line to eat. I saw Charmaine and Lixia walk off in the opposite direction to find a place to eat that was "less crowded and less expensive" - obviously they didn't realise that this was a WEDDING!

The line was too long, so I whipped out my Tape Recorder remote to put on Bones, but then I realised that my remote had a Video Camera!!! So I was video-ing all the decor for my blog, when I saw Charm and Lixia in the distance leaning against one of the railings standing a little ways from this brooding Malay girl that looked like Clareen - build, hair, everything. The Malay girl was doing her own thing, staring at people.

Me : "Say your Christmas wishes!!!"
Lixia & Charm : *opens their mouths*

Suddenly, this hand sprung out of no where, grabbed my remote control, and twisted it, effectively breaking off a small part of the casing. The camera itself was fine, but the casing was cracked. It was the insane Malay girl!

After exchanging a few expletives, I walked off to join the food queue again. However, I soon realised that people were falling ill all around me. The bridesmaids and groomsmen rather. And their partners. And people they came into close proximity with. Then, an alert came on : "KILLER VIRUS SPREADING FAST! WILL THE INFECTED PLEASE FOLLOW THE NEAREST HOTEL STAFF! Enjoy your stay :)"

Unperturbed, but resolutely avoiding all these infected dungus, I decided to go to the concierge to complain about the wedding procession starting without me. I cut right to the beginning of the line thinking that I saw Emy, Wei Xiong, and Rezza's dad having a conversation, only to realise...they only looked like them and had more facial hair.

After letting the concierge have it, I let off that all the infected people were the people IN the wedding train. This really caused a stir : The concierge sprung up shouting for the person in charge of the wedding train, and people were gasping all around me.

Then, my parents, and my cousin and her husband came running through the hotel doors asking me why I wasn't in the procession, and if I was upset and stuff.

Me : Haven't you heard?! There's a killer.................

And then I woke up.

Hahahaha...what was so great about this dream was that it was so real! I mean...Charmaine and Lixia always do complain about eating at expensive restaurants, the current Heroes plot is the killer virus thing, Lixia does go to uni and carries some files in her hand, and the rest in her bag, and I did invite Vincent. :)

OFF TO THE MERIDIEN FOR ME!!! :D

This is a really really boring post, so you don't have to read it :D

This is my family tree! :) Since I said in the previous post that I would explain why she was my half-aunt, I thought I might as well just do the whole thing :

My great-grandfather was the one of the first expatriate doctors in Malaysia. He built up his reputation, and ended up chairing the Family Planning Association after the British occupation. We learnt about that Family Planning thing briefly in Sejarah. He was awarded the Order of the British Empire (OBE) from the Queen and Justice of the Peace from the Agong.

One thing I can say about him (since I was born after he passed away) is that he invested wisely. He bought a lot (and I mean A LOT) of property, and he gave each of his children and grandchildren a piece (or more) of their own. These properties were cheap back then, but now are…well…Ampang, KL centre, Pantai etc. Some of his buys include the Coliseum and those double story bungalow-restaurants along Jalan Dungun.

He also was a kind man, and an incredibly gifted doctor. He invented the machine that detects bullets in the body when a person has been shot.

He had 6 children before his wife (my great grandmother) died. After a few years, he married her cousin’s stepdaughter and had two more children. (One of them is the aunt I work for)

Most of his children died before the age of 60. The eldest son, a doctor, had a rare blood disorder: 1 in 10 million get it. He died shortly after he got married.

The second child died at the age of 9. A car knocked her down when she was on holiday.

Another daughter developed cancer and went to England for treatment. She came back and resumed her teaching position at Victoria Institution. She then had to go back to England for treatment, and died there. Her body was flown back, and her casket had an army escort back to her house. The house was overflowing, and VI was closed for half a day for students and teachers to attend the funeral.

They hired a photographer who took pictures every single second, so when put together in an album, its like a movie!

Another son, an architect, died of a heart attack. He had no history of heart illness, but one day just didn’t wake up. His wife initially thought he was joking around. He was only 42.

My grandmother (my dad’s mom, my mom’s dad’s cousin) had an Auto Immune Disease. When I was a year old she passed away, just after they found out that she had developed liver cancer. She was the first to die after 60.

The one who lived the longest was 72 when he died : God’s promised age. He was the first Malaysian to go to the Antarctic, and the head of the Chemistry Department. He developed a “brain stroke”. He had lapses where he could not remember anything, or was disorientated and confused. Finally, he fell brain dead, and they decided to take him off the ventilator after a week or so.

The second wife’s children are still alive: One’s a concert pianist. The other’s my aunt who is a Hematologist. She was the Director of the Blood Bank. She developed cancer, which spread throughout her system, but she battled it and recovered. She’s a spokesperson for battling cancer.

So yeah...that's it!

Quite scary hor! Everyone dying so early.

I'm watching Bones...SO FARNEE! :D

Winter Teapot

The aunt I work for is actually my grandmothers half-sister (will explain this later) sister. So she’s actually my grandaunt.

So, her daughter would be my aunt. But in my family, my dad’s cousins and me are really close to each other so we just call them by their first names etc. This happens to the point where they forget I’m their nephew and in the case of those with young kids, keep telling them to call me “Uncle Ruwan”.

Anyway, her daughter is down from Australia for 2 weeks with her 2 year old son Nathan. Nathan’s dad is Hong Kong Chinese mixed Australian. His eyes are perfect circles. You could fit a 20 cent coin into them perfectly.

We hosted a small lunch for them at our house yesterday. Nathan is such an interesting child. He won’t stop talking, and that’s surprising for his age. And of course he has an Aussy accent.

So, it was me, my mom, my other “cousin” (call her D) and her husband, Nathan and his mom (let’s call her N). Also in attendance were N’s brother’s 3 boisterous kids. After lunch, N and Nathan got some sleep, while D went back to shower. My aunt came to collect the spare 3 kids.

In about an hour, my mom, N, Nathan and I went to pick up D and her youngest child, and then we headed to the Curve! Winter Warmers! The Curve’s deco is quite nice!

We had a good conversation, and Nathan attempted to sing ‘ABC’, ‘Baa Baa Black Sheep’, and ‘Rasa Sayang’ for us. Seriously. I wish we could have taken him home with us.

Unbeknownst to me, Elvyna, Arafat and their college gang were also in Winter Warmers, and so saw me when I went to get the bill. So embarrassing. Sniff. And they didn’t even say hi. GRRR…I really didn’t notice them at all!

N said that in Australia, when I’m bored, I have 4 options :

  1. I can come over and walk her 2 dogs.

  2. I can come over and baby-sit Nathan.

  3. I can come over and play XBox and PS3 to my hearts content.

  4. I can come over and housesit when they go out and do point number 3.

All have a free meal involved!

She also said I can come over and study in peace: she would put Nathan to sleep and she and her husband would go out.

Yay :) I doubt I’ll be doing any of those things other than point number 3, so yeah. Hehehe

Anyway, my aunt was staying at the Le Meridien over the weekend for fun, and had brought N and Nathan with her. Nathan was jumping around the bed, when he got distracted, and fell down, hitting his head on the windowsill. He required 3 layers of stitches, and is going to take them out today. Hence my aunt had to leave work early, and so here I am blogging to pass the time.

I’ll be staying at the Le Meridien on Friday, and half of Saturday. The room’s worth RM399, without food. It’s my aunts Christmas present to me. She’s also giving me a complimentary Hi-Tea for two, valued at 50++ per person. My mom’s coming with me for Hi-Tea, but if I’m hungry, I’ll be needing a teman to go with me to MV for dinner! :D

RM6.

I’ve been sitting here at office, looking at Wikipedia articles, replying Facebook wall posts, blogging, listening to my Ipod, waiting for my aunt from 1.00pm. Its 1.45pm.

Who cares? I just made 6 bucks doing nothing.

I might be here till 6.30 or so, because the pile of reports on her desk is just plain scary. Doesn’t matter. More money. :)

It’s finally hit me how much I’ll miss my friends when I leave. What’s the point of having total freedom when I can’t meet them any time?

And my family. They’re always there for me, helping me do things that I find too hard to do, and just making my life simpler and easier in every way possible.

In the first few months of Australia I feel I’ll need company. My mom will be there for 2 weeks, but after that what? Hopefully Ping will follow up her plans to visit Melbourne in March/April. And Ching Ching is doing my course and living on my street so hopefully it’ll be OK la :)

And there’s MSN Messenger!

My friends say I’ll make lots of friends over there.

I’m ANTISOCIAL and SHY okay? Haven’t you learned that yet?

The Subtle Knife is still eluding me! Aaahhh…hahahaha…but I’ll get it soon. I’ve to get it before Sha gives me the Amber Spyglass anyway right…

CAN’T WAIT! :D

Oh and Happy 13 months to Rachel :)

Aunts here! Brb!

Wealth

Rezza made an unplanned trip to Indonesia and so sent me RM300 through his sister to pay the downpayment for his restaurant party. Before I got it, I told my dad about it :

Me : Rezza wants us to pay the downpayment for his restaurant. His dad will send the money later.
Dad : Oh...how much?
Me : 300.
Dad : thousand?
Me : huh?
Dad : 300 thousand?
Me : RM300!!!!
Dad : How can a restaurant downpayment be so cheap?!
Me : How expensive can a downpayment get?!
Dad : You mean for his party ah?
Me : Yeah...then?

Dad : I thought he was buying a restaurant!

When your done laughing, heres a bit of trivia! Rezza USED to own a restaurant of his own :)

Anyway...

Mike Comrie is set to inherit $400-500 million bucks when his dad dies. Hilary is gonna be SO loaded when he marries her. She'll be 4th on the Forbes Richest Women list! Right now 4th is Madonna : 350 million.

And thats if she marries him NOW.

What if she marries him when his dad dies, in like 30 years? She'll be worth almost 200 - 300 million herself!

That would make her 3rd! Behind only J.K.Rowling and Oprah!

At least their in love :) If it doesn't work out...nvm la! Sniff!

Just for kicks....
