Hilary made her first ever film – Casper Meets Wendy – in 1998 at the age of 9. She went on to star in The Soul Collector for which she won a Young Artist Award and then landed a role in the feature film Human Nature, in which she played Patricia Arquettes younger self.

Then her big break came : Lizzie McGuire. It was Disney's top rated show at the time, and earned her $15,000 an episode. During this time, she landed her first major role in Agent Cody Banks in 2003 – a success.. She followed it up with The Lizzie McGuire Movie – a success, after the shows contract expired, which pushed up her salary to $1 million per movie.

A sequel was not filmed, as she demanded $5 million for the movie, and by the time her mom agreed with the $2.5 million the studio was willing to pay, it was too late.
She also starred in Cadet Kelly, a Disney Channel Original film, which held the record for the highest viewers on one night, before High School Musical 2.
In the same year, she starred alongside Steve Martin in Cheaper by the Dozen – a success.

The next year, 2004, she took on two lead roles. One in A Cinderella Story alongside Chad Michael Murray – a success. Then her dramatic role, in Raise Your Voice. The movie was her least successful to date though.

But that didn't get her down. In 2005, the Perfect Man and Cheaper by the Dozen 2 debuted. The Perfect Man didn't work out, but the latter did, boosting her salary to $3 million a movie.

2006 brought about Material Girls – produced by Hilary and Madonna. A flop, I admit.

In 2007, it was hard work. She starred opposite John Cusack in what is said to be n Oscar-hopeful film (War Inc). She's starting production on two dramatic roles, in independent movies : Gretta, and Safety Glass. Also, she and her sister are lending their voices to 'Foodfight!'. All four movies are to be released in 2008.
Early this year, on TRL, a psychic predicted that Hilary would be nominated for an Oscar in the near future. Critics are getting excited over her new roles saying that it will show her for the great actress she is.
I can't wait :)
