i still havent gotten over my botched mock interview at MABECS last saturday. why? cos it was such a STUPID and IDIOTIC mistake.. it was such an easy question, and i decided to think too deep and ended up tapau-ing. call me kiasu for hubbing over it... it's already been five days. BUT I JUST CANT GET OVER IT COS IT WAS SUCH A STUPID AND PREVENTABLE MISTAKE.
common sense question la my god. whatever logic i had just went flying out the window that day.
anyway, even if i didnt want to use my common sense to answer the what-i-thought-was-techinical-but-actually-was-not question (evidently i did not) and answer based on knowledge from books (like i always do most of the time.. bookworm la), the answer to the WHOLEEE, BLOODY ENTIRE case study happened to be on the next page of the book i was reading the night before the mock interview. if i had just LEFT MY PHONE ALONE and FLIPPED ONE MORE PAGE and JUST READ THE FIRST SENTENCE OF THE PAGE, i would have saved myself the embarassment and the bruised ego.
i can just hear the mock interviewer go 'you know... last time, at the mock interview i conducted for HELP students, there was this girl...'
ARGH.. MY PRIDE.
JUST ONE SENTENCE. ONE BLOODY SHORT SENTENCE.
If the accused has the mens rea (guilty mind), but does not bring about the actus reus (guilty act), he is not guilty of any offence.
oh my god. somebody just kill me. JUST ONE STINKING BASIC LEGAL PRINCIPLE applicable to most criminal law cases, and i wouldnt be feeling like this now. and i feel doubly worse, cos DUHHHH. YOU DON'T NEED A BOOK TO TELL YOU THIS. ITS COMMON SENSE. tripl-y worse, SHE ACTUALLY TRIED TO HELP ME BY HINTING ME INDIRECTLY. but i was so blur and thick, i didnt take the cue.
i'll never forget this. ever. :(
