Let me give you a background on my moms friends
One of them has lived here for about 30 years, and we're quite close to her. She and my mom went to the same private school in Sri Lanka. Shes from the Subi family, which is kind of like the Vanderbilt family of Sri Lanka. Anyone who spots one of their family members would know who they are. Their like royalty. The Subi family owned several vast tea estates in Sri Lanka and their company, Subi Tea, at one time was one of the prime distributors of tea in Ceylon. They are of Lebanese descent. This 'aunt' of mine, used to come to school in a stretched Mercedes Benz, with drawn curtains. And theirs was the only car that was allowed into the school compound to drop off the children. Incidentally, this 'aunts' mom studied with my grandmom, in the same school.
Anyway, she married this Proffesor of Islam from Oxford, who advises all the prime ministers on Islam...and so she moved here...Her two sons got scholarships to study in Oxford, and the university payed up their bonds for them, and one of them was offered a job in UCL. (rachel...I can see your face....hahah!)
The second friend, just moved here with her husband last year. They are first cousins and of Yemen descent, but they lived in Hong Kong, cause the husband was a surgeon there. My god, their so FAIR!!!! The Mrs. studied with my mom in that school. She (and Mr.) were from some businessmans family, and they were one of the richest families in the island (thus the inter-marriage). They speak Urdu, Chinese, Tamil, and English. Goodness.
The third, she was also my moms classmate. She lived in Hong Kong for a while, but now is in Bahrain. She came from the Fenton family, (business family dealing in pipes and stuff) who were also one of the more influencial families in Sri Lanka. Her husband was an Aeronautical Engineer for Singapore Airlines, but now works for Gulf Air, and is in charge of making sure everyone is properly trained. Their daughter studies in Victoria College in Sunway, so our families keep in touch often.
Thats about it I guess...yeah..
Anyway, my mom decided to stand them lunch at Selangor Club, and I was only invited on that day itself. Hmph. We had to pick up the third family from Pyramid Tower, and then bring them home. There, the second family met us, and we left in two cars to the club, where after an hour wait Family #1 met us. THE LUNCH WAS SO DAMN FUN!!! Husband #2 is a real joker, and he was cracking jokes through the whole lunch, leaving everyone dabbing their eyes with tissue.
Then, the storm started. Finally, we left the club at 4, after the club said they could lend us umbrellas. We went back to my house, after dropping Family #1, and then Family #2 took us to their house.
Uncle from Family #2 (U) : Vasanthi, why dont you come too?
Mom : *doesnt answer*
Me : *feels like bashing her over the head*
U : Remember Vasa, anytime your in the area drop by! Treat it like its your own house!
Mom : Yes, yes, I will, thanks
Me : ...*please, please*
U : you see Ruwan, because of your mom you cant come
Me : yeah....I KNOW
U : aiyo, Vasa look at him, he wants to come! poor thing!
Me : huh? *realises he was joking*
Mom : Aiyo...Chandran he wants to go!
Dad : ah so go la
Mom : Not me! Him!
Me : .............
Dad : just take him and go, then you can drop Family #3 at Mid Valley on the way back
Mom : ah...okay
Me : *YESSS!!!!!* Okay, wait, I have to go get my handphone
Mom : haihz

I didnt take picture of inside the convo, cause I dont want anyone else to steal the ideas!!!! But, the master bathroom? TO DIE FOR! And the living and dining room? I died and went to heaven. The master bedroom was like a hotel but better.
O gosh....
Im in love.
Sigh.
I took pics of the pool area though. Though it doesnt look like it, its better than any hotel Ive ever stayed in or seen, or looked at on the net. Its definitely better than the Raffles, and so definitely a league higher than the Sheraton Perdana Langkawi. It might even be better than the MGM Grand.

IM IN LOVE
Residents include : My dads uncle D-a-t-o- Dr.- Th-ur-a-isi-ngham (cardiologist), Tan Sri Lim Goh Tong (Genting Highlands), the heads of Siemens, Motorola, Samsung, business expats and the like
Sigh...maybe in 10 years time?
